Abstract

The essential characteristics of self-compacting concrete (SCC) are mainly regulated by mass and clay. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the influence of the mortar volume exerted on the SCC. For this, concrete dosages were prepared with mortar volumes of 57%, 61%, 65% and 69%. The Gomes dosage development method was used, which divides the concrete into two separate phases: a mass and a granular skeleton. The results show that concretes produced with larger mortar volumes are less viscous and have better flowability. The initial strength of the concrete was directly proportional to the cement consumption, while the strength gain rates were inversely proportional. The concrete with the highest modulus of elasticity was composed by the lowest volume of mortar, while the highest strength was applied with 61% content. Therefore, the mortar volume had a significant influence on the SCC.
