Case study: Diagnosis and actions of structural recovery of the Jucazinho/PE
Main Article Content
Abstract
In 2010, the Dam Safety Law was enacted, which aims to implement a culture of predictive and preventive maintenance in Brazilian dams. This article aims to describe the main pathological manifestations in the Jucazinho Dam and its possible treatments. The methodology involves: a literature review; the characterization of the Jucazinho dam; compilation of anomalies identified in the bus body; and proposing techniques for recovery. Through the report of the consultancy contracted by the Department of National Works Against Drought (DNOCS), the following anomalies in the structure were identified: presence of bladders in the main spillway, where the treatment will be given by the application of a high-strength mortar; damage to the structure of the dissipation basin, where a ski jump will be built at the end of the main overflow; cracks and cracks observed along the dam that will be treated with injection of polyurethane resin; and deposition of fine material in addition to infiltration into the gallery, which will be corrected with mortar injection every 3.0 m along the dam to the rock layer. At the end of this article, it is evident that there is a need to adopt a system of safety inspections to identify possible pathological manifestations prematurely.
