Abstract
CFD simulation allows for visualizing and analyzing airflow in the system and identifying design improvements that add value to the final product and the customer. Thus, this work is dedicated to simulating and evaluating the effects of different geometric parameters on an automotive instrument panel duct. Six different types of geometries were evaluated, each with three different cross-sectional profiles, totaling eighteen models. The main points observed were the pressure drop along each of the ducts, the kinetic energy of turbulence, fluid velocity, and flow behavior. The simulations were performed using the Ansys Fluent software in its student version. The observed results show that different geometric parameters have a significant influence on the system's efficiency, as the presence of curvature radius significantly improved system efficiency and contributed to better flow organization. Furthermore, the effectiveness of internal radius was much higher than that of external radius.
